The plate located under the presser foot (needle plate) has engraved lines.
These lines serve as seam allowance guides.
They indicate the distance between the needle and the edge of the fabric.

Understanding the Graduated Lines
The markings correspond to the distance in cm, or in inches, from the needle in the central position.
The basic guide for seam allowances remains 1 cm.
Important:
Do not look at the needle while sewing.
Look at the edge of the fabric aligned with a line.
Moving the Needle
- fine-tune a seam allowance,
- sew close to an edge,
- create precise topstitching,
- use the edge of the foot as a guide.
Sewing Straight
Sewing straight is not a matter of talent.
It’s a matter of a stable guide. (and a little practice)
